2008 Marine Transportation Program

In November 2005, Vale Inco completed its construction activities in Labrador and began operations following which the first two shipments of nickel concentrate were shipped from Edward’s Cove. During 2007, 21 vessels arrived at Edward’s Cove to transport nickel and copper concentrate and delivered cargo and fuel. During 2008 Vale/Inco anticipates another busy season into and out of Edward’s Cove and the mix of cargoes to be shipped will be similar to those shipped in 2007. The MV Umiak 1 will generally be used to support Vale/Inco's 2008 shipping requirements with some non Umiak1 export voyages.

The marine transportation activity in and out of Edward’s Cove this year will be conducted in accordance with the Shipping Agreement between Vale Inco and the Nunatsiavut Government.
