VBNC has been working with government, Aboriginal communities and other stakeholders since the planning stage to ensure that environmental considerations were integrated and addressed in all aspects of the project. We maintained this stakeholder engagement throughout construction and continue to do so in the operations phase.

Construction of the Demonstration Plant in Argentia was confined to a relatively small footprint and there were no significant environmental impacts. Construction activities were carried out in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and VBNC’s Environmental Protection Plan (EPP). The construction of the mine and concentrator in Voisey’s Bay was a much larger development with a substantial footprint and there was a primary focus on ensuring compliance with provincial and federal legislation, permit conditions and VBNC’s EPP.
