Environmental Protection Plan

VBNC, SNC-Lavalin and Labrador Inuit Association environmental monitors reviewing workplans in the field.
Environmental protection planning is an important component of overall project planning and implementation. The Environmental Protection Plan (EPP) is a regulatory condition of project approval and is a vital reference document for implementing environmental protection measures and providing environmental protection procedures.

We consolidated all relevant provincial, federal and Vale corporate environmental guidelines in the EPP to provide a common reference document for conducting environmental monitoring by all environmental personnel. This ensures that the approach to identifying non-compliance issues and offering mitigations remains consistent throughout the development of all aspects of the project.

In 2003, the provincial government granted conditional approval of the revised EPP subject to incorporation of comments submitted by Innu Nation, Labrador Inuit Association, provincial and federal regulatory agencies.
